At OSERVS, we bring life-saving CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Classes — Heartsaver and BLS (Basic Life Support) — to individuals and groups who are eager to learn these crucial skills. CPR Training offers the choice between the Heartsaver Class

or the BLS (Basic Life Support - advanced) Class.

HEARTSAVER

Heartsaver is the option for the non-healthcare professional and teaches the basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques for sudden cardiac arrest that could double or even triple the chances of survival. Manikins are provided for practice and include Automated External Defibrillation (AED). Other topics of study include heart attacks, strokes, choking and drug overdoses for the adult, child and infant.

BLS (Advanced)

BLS is the advanced course for those in the healthcare industry and is required for nurses, dental assistants and other professionals in healthcare related fields. Advanced resuscitation training, including AED instruction and hospital equipment/procedures are included for all age-groups. Other topics offer instruction on how to respond to choking, drug overdoses and other types of life-threating emergencies for all age-groups. The BLS participate must take and pass a 25-question written exam administered at the end of the class.

When you donate whole blood, the collection center doesn’t keep it as a single unit. It gets spun in a centrifuge and separated into three components: red blood cells, platelets, and plasma. Each one is packaged, stored, and eventually sent to a patient who needs that specific part.

Red blood cells carry oxygen to tissues and are transfused when someone is bleeding heavily or has severe anemia. Platelets are tiny cell fragments that help blood clot, and they’re given to patients whose clotting ability is compromised, often during cancer treatment or major surgery. Plasma is the liquid portion of blood, rich in clotting factors, and is used to control bleeding in patients with liver disease, burns, or clotting disorders. Because each component treats a different condition in a different patient, a single donation genuinely has the potential to help three separate people.

 A super red blood donation, commonly called a Power Red or double red cell donation, is a specialized type of blood donation that collects twice the amount of red blood cells compared to a standard whole blood donation. Instead of taking a single bag of whole blood, a machine draws your blood, separates out the red blood cells, and returns your plasma and platelets back into your body.

Do you know the difference between a watch and a warning? In a watch, severe weather is possible, and you should be on the lookout and be prepared. In a warning, severe weather is happening or about to happen, and you should take shelter.
